Creating new Dataverse for #MicrosoftTeams enviroments is super easy. Controlling them has been pretty difficult. Since anyone who has access to the #PowerApps app in Teams can go and provision a template app from MS into their team almost by accident, there's been a huge growth of Dataverse for Teams environments in many organizations. Sure, it makes it look like Power Platform adoption is booming - yet the majority of these apps are likely to be just experiments or quick tests with what the Teams based #lowcode apps have to offer. What's worse, unless you have an automated governance process in place, you won't really know whether the environments are used for actual business data or just testing. Between Aug-Sep 2022 we'll finally get a feature that MS has been promising to address the DV4T environment sprawl. You still can't directly control environment creation, but at least you can configure inactive environments to expire automatically. The policy setting will be available on Power Platform admin center to define after how many days of inactivity the Teams environments in the tenant will be disabled and eventually deleted. It will be interesting to see how smart the MS telemetry is about definition of inactivity. Any user opening an app for seeing "what's this all about" will make it active, for instance. Any flows that are still running on a schedule will keep the environment active forever. Whether any Power Platofrm admin level actions to check the config of solution elements will get tracked as activity - that's something we'll soon get to test I guess.😁
All developments should follow a governance process. Everything outside that process should be marked for deletion with corresponding alert to the developers. Are ther any tools to help the governance process? By a Center of Excelence, p.ex.
Documentation is saying: "..users will receive email notifications on the schedule described in the timeline..." Has anyone seen how theese emails look like or found a way to customize theese emails?
